Baptism is how we get into Christ. Baptism is always accompanied by faith and repentance. Baptism is God’s terms of surrender. Baptism is our signal to God we have accepted Christ’s gospel. Baptism is the external washing with water and the internal washing away of sin by God. Baptism is “calling on the name of the Lord.” Baptism is being unified with Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. Baptism is “clothing” ourselves with Christ. Baptism is “accepting” Christ (on His terms, not ours) Baptism is when our sins are forgiven. Baptism is when we receive the Holy Spirit. Baptism is how and when ... Read Full Story

Once the Catholic church baptized it's members into the all power filled saving and commanded name of Jesus. Romans 6:4, Acts 4:12, Matthew 28:18, and Colossians 3:17 among many others scriptures state this truth and biblical principle. After the Greeks firstly by Justin Martyr (145 A.D.) changed the baptism formula to the titles, though Jesus was still at the center of it. It went like this. "For, in the name of God, the Father and Lord of the universe, and of the Savior Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit, they then receive the washing with water." And later Tertullian (200) who a fan of Justin, just simply ... Read Full Story

Are wars on the increase? Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Here are some cold hard facts. Now in past history, the 30 years war resulted with about 7 million dead. (From 1618-48) Until recently and in modern times, this was declared by many as the most horrible war. It has been calculated by a former president of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences, aided by historians from England, Egypt, Germany, and India, that since 3600 B.C., over 14,531 wars have been ... Does the Shepherd Hermas match up with the word of God? How about the early recorded writings of the Catholics? Let us see. First the scriptures. Acts 2:36-41Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, ... Read Full Story

"Therefore as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion , kindness , humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love , which binds them all together in perfect unity." ~Colossians 3:12-14 (NIV) As I continue to try to grasp the concepts of love , compassion , forgiveness , mercy and grace for an upcoming novel, I must admit that mercy has had me stumped. In fact, I moved it down the list to allow myself more ... Read Full Story
I'd oppose most of these items. I like the NIV better than any other translation I've read, although I use other translations on occasion. I'm curious which references to the unborn the NIV deletes (#2). Do you have more information? I would (generally) agree with item #6, too many of the more modern translations downplay Satan and Hell. Which translation do you prefer?
