Jacob Whipple has made a name for himself by attacking the LDS church of late. His core problem with the church is the churches fundamental doctrine on the importance and purpose of the family in Mormon Theology. Yet, while he pleads for "equality" his rhetoric shows no sign of peace, he is instead a merchant of smear. Whipple on his face book page recently stated that LDS apostle Boyd K. Packers affirmation of core LDS doctrine JUSTIFIES "horrors and Atrocities" like the torture and killing of 3 homosexual boys in the Bronx on New York.
Here are packers words from the Last LDS Conference:
'We teach a standard of moral conduct that will protect us from Satan’s many substitutes or counterfeits for marriage. We must understand that any persuasion to enter into any relationship that is not in harmony with the principles of the gospel must be wrong. From the Book of Mormon we learn that “wickedness never was happiness.”13
Some suppose that they were preset and cannot overcome what they feel are inborn temptations toward the impure and unnatural. Not so! Remember, God is our Heavenly Father.
Paul promised that “God . . . will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”14 You can, if you will, break the habits and conquer an addiction and come away from that which is not worthy of any member of the Church. As Alma cautioned, we must “watch and pray continually.”15
Where in the Packers words is there any justification of violence. There is none. His words do not justify violence in any way. to say so is to say that the existence of the book of Genesis, Romans 1:26-27, Jude 1:7 and even Josephus Jewish Antiquities 1:199-202 all justify murder as well. It is to say that Christian tradition “justifies Horrors and Atrocities” Here we see Whipple true mindset, that is, ANY contradiction from his world view must be vilified. SO he resorts to low class, reactionary emotion rooted propaganda, comparing a statement on the ability of man to exercise free (and a doctrine that cuts clear lines) will to the cruelty of a street gang called the Latin Street Goonies.
There is no hate in Packers words, but through the use of the smear we see that there is a measure of hate in Jacob Equality Whipple. He hates the Mormon doctrine of the family and the church's instance on a Divine Plan for the Family. Here is the church's teaching on the family:
All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose..The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan..The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity..We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.
We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society." (LDS.Org, The Family, A Proclamation to the World.)
