Stacy Peterson, missing since October 28, 2007.
Christina Raines, the 24-year-old woman who shocked thousands when it was reported she had become engaged to
Drew Peterson, the husband of long-missing
Stacy Peterson, told the
Early Show that her engagement was "more like a stunt."
Raines explained that Peterson had used her to make it back in the spotlight:
He had told me that his lawyer had wanted him to be in the media and wanted to propose to someone at a restaurant...
Legally, Peterson would not have been able to marry Raines, as he is still technically married to
Stacey Peterson, who has been missing over a year. Although Drew Peterson has not been charged with anything, the death of his third wife,
Kathleen Savio, is now also under investigation. It had originally been classified an accident.
Raines also told the
Early Show that she had known Peterson since she was 15, and had known Stacy Peterson. Raines moved out of Peterson's house shortly after he gave an interview to
Nightline in which
he claimed he is "basically attracted to young, beautiful women with good personalities."
