The Best and Worst of Christmas Noise

True Opinions IncludedChristmas Heaven/Christmas Hell, EARTH - Every Christmas we either enjoy or suffer through the same holiday music. Even those of us who exclusively utilize radio for “talk programming” are incapable of escaping the vicious cycle. Shopping malls, elevators, and convenience stores everywhere pump in the merry noise from the last burp of Thanksgiving to the anti-climax of December 26th. Unfortunately, few people seem to be willing to pass judgment on these tunes or, better yet, cut some of them from yearly tradition. A word to my beloved readers: knowing full well that some of these picks will infuriate the few who stumble upon this article, I suggest you get into the freagin’ Christmas spirit and make your own damn list. (The comment section is a perfect place to begin.)

The Good

“Linus & Lucy/Peanuts Theme” (Vince Guaraldi) - Not technically a Christmas song (which helps its case), there is no better way to start a long wintry road trip than to blast this song over your car’s loudspeakers. For those of us without cars, try earphones and a brisk walk to the closest hot cocoa supply.
