This week, for only the second time in his NFL career, Chris Cooley missed a practice. Want the details? It's all there on his blog, how his back went into spasms when he bent over to pick up a napkin while eating at a sushi place with wife Christy. What the two-time Pro Bowl tight end didn't miss this week was another savvy marketing opportunity, capitalizing on a Jessica Simpson rumor that didn't have an inkling of truth. It started when an online report suggested a romantic link between Washington Redskins teammate Colt Brennan and pop singer Simpson, who recently broke up with Dallas ... Read Full Story

Chris Cooley & Christy Oglevee On Friday evening Chris Cooley of the Washington Redskins is set to wed the ex cheerleader Christy Oglevee who got fired for dating him. It seems Redskinettes mustn't fraternize with players. Guess it's a double standards thing though, as Chris didn't get the boot as well. The couple have been engaged for nine months and fuller details of how they met are on washingtonpost.com . Chris wrote lovingly about Christy Oglevee: "As we moved through the season, I fell in love with her. We went through a lot of weird stuff, but it never fazed either of us. Maybe ... Read Full Story

I couldn’t figure this one out. One of the hottest Google searches right now is Chris Cooley. A lot of people were talking about how he was recently married to Christy Oglevee. Considering Cooley is the Redskins’ good-but-not-great tight end who gives non-football fans little to no reason to know who he is, I figured that Christy Oglevee must be a celebrity. Perhaps this is football’s new version of the Kris Benson and Anna Benson marriage. (By the way, Google Kris Benson and the first thing that comes up are three provocative photos of his wife.) All I had read about Christy Oglevee was ... Read Full Story

Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley is well known in the Blogosphere for lots of reasons — his big hair, his on-field success, his cheerleader-turned-wife, his blog. But why does this writer keep tabs on him? He was born in the same little Wyoming town where I spent some time in college. Powell, Wyo. — population 5,373 — home of the Northwest College Trappers. But what about that headline? Well, one reader pointed me in the direction of a Cooley blog entry — where he gives 10 tips to fans seeking his autograph. It’s the standard stuff — wear the player’s jersey, be under ... Read Full Story

Do the Redskins even have a chance tonight? Maybe for their fan's sake they are better off losing and just hitting rock bottom so Dan Snyder just starts from scratch and hires a whole new coaching staff. This is a passionate fan base and they deserve better. In the Redskins honor, today's Jersey Girl is Chris Cooley's wife Christy Oglevee who is a former Redskins cheerleader. She was kicked off the squad once management found out she was dating the Tight End. Enjoy the pics! Read Full Story
It’s been a long holiday season for Tiger Woods. Besides managing a scandal involving a growing list of women, yesterday news came out linking Woods’ physician with performance enhancing drugs. Tiger has been laying low throughout all of this, isolated from the entire world. However there is somebody that wants Tiger to know he is ready [...]

Washington Redskins injured tight end Chris Cooley admitted on a radio show recently that he's likely done for the season . Nothing is official and no reports have been made regarding his injury , but Cooley remains in a walking boot and is still more than a week away from a possible return. Cooley apparently made comments suggesting that his season could be over, and with the Redskins playing for little else other than pride at just 3-7, it...

What's that? You're wondering why I haven't transcribed any Redskins radio interviews in two days? Good question. Let me start making amends. Chris Cooley's weekly appearances with DC 101's Elliot in the Morning are getting progressively more interesting the longer it's been since Cooley actually played. This Monday, he brought the knowledge on pro athletes womanizing, Jason Campbell's wristband, Gregg Williams's fatness and the Redskins...

I wrote on Sunday about Marshall Faulk calling out Albert Haynesworth during the NFL Network's pre-game show, telling the tackle to "tape it up and go" against an NFC East rival. Well, coincidentally, DC101's Elliot in the Morning was also watching that segment, and jotted down the same quote, and asked Chris Cooley about it Monday morning. "Everyone deals with pain and everyone deals with injuries differently," Cooley said. "It's hard for me...

By now, you've no doubt read Chris Cooley's description of the Redskins' playcalling system, which he called "really weird," "almost unheard of," and "a carousel of calls." His description of the five-man system pretty much mirrored what Moose Johnston had said during the Fox broadcast, which makes sense, since Cooley had been watching the game on television from home. And while the pentagonal system absolutely sounds absurd, and hasn't led to...

The Redskins are dead. Dead, dead, dead. There is no life left to this season. In fact, its clear now the two wins on the record were mere flukes. There is no offense, or defense. The coaches stink, as do the quarterback and running back. The only decent player on the team – Chris Cooley [...]

Via Jason Reid at Redskins Insider. “We have a really weird deal going on right now with the kind of rotation of who calls the plays, to where it goes, to who gets it and how it gets to Jason.  It’s almost unheard of.  And apparently, because I haven’t really been there, is that Sherman Lewis [...]
