The nephew of a Chicago-area town president has been arrested for allegedly stealing beer.
Joseph Terrana, 41, is the nephew of Cicero town president Larry Dominick. After watching surveillance footage of the store, police say Terrana, wearing an official Town of Cicero municipal jacket, can be seen wheeling Corona, Tecate, and Negro Modelo in a shopping cart to the car he was driving. The car itself is a Town of Cicero vehicle.
Terrana works part-time as a driver for senior citizens in need.
When asked where he lives, Terrano gave police the address for the town president.
Terrana denies the charges against him, but has been previously convicted of theft. He also has another charge on his record.
As of Friday, Terrana still had his job and was not facing any disciplinary measures, though the inspector general is said to be investigating criminal charges against him.
The allegedly stolen beer was from a Jewel in neighboring Stickney, and was worth about $285.
Terrana has been on probation for the last two years after he pled guilty to misdemeanor theft in 2005. Among the items he stole in 2005 was a case of Corona beer.
In 2009, he was forced to resign as a Cicero garbage man, only to be fired from a janitorial position in 2010 after a drug test found he had five illegal substances in his system.
Still, he was hired back by the city in 2011 at $12/hour to drive for the elderly.
