Cindy Crawford and Husband Targeted in Alleged Extortion Scheme

Three years ago, supermodel Cindy Crawford drew criticism for allowing her then-5-year-old daughter Kaya to pose in a bikini for designer Melissa Odabash (one of the photos showed Kaya without a bikini top on, peeking over her shoulder at the camera). The photos were eventually removed from designer Odabash's site, and Crawford's rep dismissed the event as "ridiculous."

Now, Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, have been targeted in an alleged extortion scheme over a photograph of their daughter, Radar Online reports. The couple told investigators that Edis "Eddie" Kayalar, said he had a photo of 7-year-old Kaya "gagged, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, and tied to a chair."

Crawford and Gerber say they did not know the photograph existed, and claim the photograph was taken by their nanny as part of a game, without their knowledge. Gerber says he paid Kayalar $1,000 for the hard copy of the photo, but that Kayalar called again and demanded much more money soon thereafter.
