HuffPo has a report that Cindy McCain might be dating a dude who according to an eyewitness resembles "a washed-up '80s rock musician." On the face it this sounds like a crock but let's pretend it might be possible.

The National Enquirer first broke the story. The Enquirer can be iffy when it comes to the straight goods as we all know - but they got it right on John Edwards' affair, so who knows.

Apparently 'mutiple witnesses' have seen the pair together. One guy said he couldn't believe he was actually watching Cindy McCain kissing and hugging another man. Other witnesses claim to have spotted the couple at concerts and sporting events acting very lovey dovey.

The photo that the Enquirer ran with the story is very grainy, and this has led to hoots of disbelief. However assuming this is an actual photo of the couple and not a cut and paste job, chances are this might in fact be Cindy McCain or failing that - a Cindy McCain lookalike.

Personally I couldn't care less who Cindy McCain (or her clone) is dating, but for those who care there are definite similarities between the females in the pics beneath:










A comment on a blog thread noted that Cindy would never be caught dead wearing plaid and a polo neck. That could be precisely why she wore the outfit.

As for the very public outings - who would ever conceive that Cindy McCain would be seen out and around smooching with a "washed-up rock musician." She has a blonde, somewhat generic look, so if in fact it was the real deal - over-and-above the few who believed it was her there were probably many more who dismissed the thought out of hand.

The Enquirer photo was taken at the Tempe Music Festival where the woman in the pic was allegedly greeted as "Cindy."

Despite the physical similarities noted, it might just come down to some person who is the spitting image of Mrs McCain - perhaps presently enjoying a huge in-joke with her friends.

Stranger things have happened. Earlier this year a Nicolas Cage lookalike fooled the football team Real Madrid into thinking he was the real thing. The lookalike was given red carpet treatment at the Champion's League match against AS Roma.

So odds are a blonde Cindy clone is out there having the last laugh.
