The No H8 campaign posted a press release
on its web site, explaining that Cindy McCain is one more piece of evidence that gay marriage is a non-partisan issue. "Aligning yourself with the platform of gay marriage as a Republican still tends to be very stigmatic, but Cindy McCain wanted to participate in the campaign to show people that party doesn't matter -- marriage equality isn't a Republican issue any more than it is a Democratic issue," reads the release. "It's about human rights, and everybody being treated equally in the eyes of the law that runs and protects this country."

In a promotional photo for the campaign, Cindy appears with silver duct tape over her mouth and the "No H8" logo on her right cheek. Her daughter,
Meghan, has previously posed for No H8, along with celebs such as Tara Reid, Sharon Osbourne and Kathy Griffin.
During his campaign for president, John McCain's web site stated his position on gay marriage. "The family represents the foundation of Western Civilization and civil society and John McCain believes the institution of marriage is a union between one man and one woman. It is only this definition that sufficiently recognizes the vital and unique role played by mothers and fathers in the raising of children, and the role of the family in shaping, stabilizing, and strengthening communities and our nation."
