“We are supporting the troops and we want them back home safely,” said Meg Green. The activists also sounded off against the use of drones, which are unmanned aircraft controlled and launched by soldiers at bases around the world. Cindy Sheehan, the California mother, whose son was killed while serving in Iraq in 2004 has been traveling with the peace caravan. But Sheehan and the group were confronted by a military sergeant at Travis AFB where the protest turned heated and was anything but peaceful. “He got very aggressive with us. He pushed and shoved us. A Saturday rally led by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan at Travis Air Force Base nearly ended in a brawl when a military veteran physically confronted the protesters. You can see at the beginning that a military police man was telling The Protestors to leave military property but they taunted him too. Anti-war group Code Pink demonstrated at the military base Saturday morning. Sheehan, a well-known anti-war activist whose son was killed while serving in Iraq in 2004, was leading the demonstration with a megaphone when a man dressed in a formal military uniform stepped up to her and berated her. Videotape of the incident ... Read Full Story

Among our many victories in 2004 was the victory of Republican candidate John Thune over then-Democratic Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. I still consider Senator Thune’s victory in that race one of the most defining of the entire election cycle, every bit as important as the re-election victory of President Bush over Senator John Kerry. I don’t expect another hugely victorious year for the Republican Party in 2008 with John McCain as our Presidential candidate, in fact I completely expect us to lose even more seats on top of the ones we lost in 2006. That’s why I’m working so hard for Republican congressional ... Read Full Story

Around 50 people joined anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan as she led a brief protest Monday afternoon near former President George W. Bush's Dallas home. Sheehan's 21-year-old son, Casey, was killed in the war in Iraq. She staged a prolonged demonstration outside Bush's ranch near Crawford, Texas, in 2005. She said her issues with Bush didn't end with his presidency. Protesters met at an intersection and then walked about a mile to an elementary school across from Bush's new home. Sheehan carried a sign that read, "For what noble cause." The event brought out about a dozen people protesting the protest and about two dozen ... Read Full Story

Yet Another Crack At The Telecom Issues, Golub (v) Pelosi…and some graphic commentary! And yet one more time, we need to hold the line against the criminal push from the White House for letting the telecoms off the hook for knowingly collaborating with their criminal actions in completely disregarding the law to wiretap million of ordinary peace loving U.S. citizens. Please call your House member yet again, tollfree at 800-828-0498, 800-614-2803 or 866-340-9281, and let them know how disgusted you would be if they were to cave in yet again. I do not wish to speak ill of Cindy Sheehan, but I have said ... Read Full Story

While we typically like to poke fun at Cindy Sheehan and the loopy ladies of Code Pink --because, let's face it, they usually deserve a good ribbing -- we have too hand it to local anti-war protester Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq, for shoving a megaphone in the face of an old man in uniform. Not only was it humorous, but it made a beautiful statement. See, during a protest against unmanned military drones at Travis Air Force Base...

Videotape of the incident shows that Sheehan yelled "Get out of my face" through the megaphone at the man, who slapped the device away. Other protesters immediately joined Sheehan and traded insults with the man, and a shoving match broke out. The military veteran told reporters that he was upset with the anti-war protesters' effect on troop morale. "They ruin the troops. They get to the troops. They did the same thing in Vietnam," he said.
