Elvis is coming to The Strip — Cirque du Soleil style. Cirque du Soleil announced Thursday that its new show in Las Vegas will be called "Viva ELVIS." The show will be a tribute to the life and music of Elvis Presley. It will have a permanent home at the Aria Resort & Casino at MGM Mirage's CityCenter complex, set to open in December. Known for its extravagant theatrical performances combining live music, dance and acrobatics, the Quebec-based circus troupe announced plans for the show in August 2006. The circus show Cirque du Soleil has sold 80,000 tickets for its debut Russian tour, founder Guy Laliberte said on Tuesday. Laliberte, who last month became the seventh person to spend millions of dollars to become a "space tourist", said he was confident the show would do well. Cirque du Soleil has decided to extend its Russian tour by two weeks, with the run ending on December 13. "I hope we will do well. Canadian circus tycoon Guy Laliberte returned to Earth on Sunday, wearing his trademark red clown nose, when a Soyuz capsule carrying him and two astronauts landed safely in the steppes of Kazakhstan. "Everything took place normally and on time," said Vitaly Lopota, head of Energia, the Russian state-owned company which designs the Soyuz capsule, in televised remarks. "The crew is feeling excellent," he added. The Russian Soyuz capsule carrying Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte and two other space travelers landed safely in Kazakhstan on Sunday, ending the entertainment tycoon's mirthful space odyssey. Laliberte, who wore a bulbous clown nose during his stay aboard the International Space Station, was extracted from the cramped Soyuz capsule Sunday morning following its landing in the steppes of northern Kazakhstan. After the landing, he was carried from the capsule wearing the round red nose.
