World’s Heaviest Man Gets Married
The world’s heaviest man, Manuel Uribe, proved that one can find love under any circumstances after marrying his girlfriend of 2 years, Claudia Solis.
In a ceremony coined as “The Big Fat Mexican Wedding”, Manuel, who has not left his bed for 6 years, was transported via a tow truck from his mother’s house to the Club de Leones in Monterrey, North Mexico for the wedding.
It took 10 strong men to make the job of moving him and his reinforced bed. He never needed to walk the altar. Because he couldn’t.
Security was tight with the police escort trailed by a long line of traffic, reporters and public. While the overall distance to travel was barely 10 miles, it took about 1 hour for the team to move Manuel.
Manuel met his fiancee Claudia 4 years ago when the latter came to visit him to tell that her husband, who was Manuel’s friend, had passed away. Later, a friendship blossomed which eventually grew into romance.
Manuel Uribe is ranked by the Guinness Book of Record as the heaviest man alive, weighing 560 kilograms in 2006. He has since lost almost half of his weigh with the help of Claudia.
