Ranieri On Inter’s Injuries

In his usual pre-match conference the day before Siena v Inter, Claudio Ranieri touched on some of the injury problems that Inter are having as well as how Sneijder and Maicon are doing as they try and regain their fitness.

Lucio won’t be travelling to Tuscany with the team, another injury that Inter have to deal with. The Nerazzurri coach gave his own view on the matter:

“When you change lots of coaches, the training methods change too and that can have sometimes have negative side effects. I don’t really understand it: he got through the whole match without realising he had a problem. But we’re not alone in this. I think there are about 70 injuries throughout Serie A. It would be interesting to see if it’s the teams that play the most games that have the most injuries.”

“Sneijder and Maicon? They’re following personalised programmes but the recovery times vary from player to player. We’ll have to see. Of course if I had all the players available I’d be able to field the strongest team possible, but at the moment there are a few players doing overtime. I hope that when they’re tired we’ll have others available again to take over. Poli? He’s coming along well, with a few ups and downs, which is normal. We’re slowly getting him back to full fitness and when I see he’s ready for a full game he’ll get his chance because he’s a useful player.”
