The Mets could signed free agent Claudio Vargas today on a Minor League deal. Vargas who is a good right-hander pitcher and has so many good pitches that he could work on. Will be a great signing for the Mets, due to there needs in the 5th pitching starting rotation. I feel like, this pitcher could really fill the spot. For Mets injured fifth starter Orlando Hernandez, who is far way from coming back to the big leagues. Claudio who has a career record on the big leagues, 43-38 and 478 strike outs. Claudio Vargas and the Mets agreed to a minor league contract Thursday, giving New York another option for its injury-riddled rotation. Vargas was released by Milwaukee late in spring training after going 11-6 with a 5.09 ERA in 23 starts and six relief appearances for the Brewers last season. The right-hander, who turns 30 in June, was 12-10 with a 4.83 ERA for Arizona in 2006. Schoeneweis's wife, Gabrielle, was found dead in the master bedroom of the couple's suburban Fountain Hills, Ariz., home May 20. The 35-year-old Schoeneweis spent three weeks on the bereavement list at that time before returning June 9. Young was hitting .194 with seven home runs and 28 RBIs in 103 games when he was sent down Monday. He had two hits in his last 30 at-bats, and his average has not been above .205 since April 30. The 25-year-old lost playing time in center field recently to rookie Gerardo Parra.
