How the Rockies Got Awesome

Garrett Atkins, Todd Helton and Omar Quintanilla
People are excited about baseball in Colorado for the first time in a long time... at least seven years, which is the last time they had a winning record.

Their club has given them a chance at seeing just the second playoff berth in the 15-year history of the franchise after coasting to the longest winning streak in the big leagues this season -- 11 games.

Seriously, it can't get much more exciting than this: the Rockies open a season-ending three-game series in Colorado Friday against the division-leading Arizona Diamondbacks, who have a 1-game lead in the NL West over the San Diego Padres. If the Rockies sweep, they will either clinch a ticket to the postseason or qualify for a tie-breaker to decide the division winner or wild-card team.

Along with their outstanding play, they can send a thank you card to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who they've defeated 7 times during this streak alone.
