What Causes Depression?

Depression is a mental illness that affect your body as a whole. This illness involves the body, mood, and thoughts. Depression is also known as biological depression, clinical depression and major depression. But the meaning for all is same that is feeling sad and depressed for weeks or months on end (not just a passing blue mood), accompanied by feelings of hopelessness, lack of energy, and taking little or no pleasure in things that gave you joy in the past.

A person who is depressed also often has feelings of guilt, worthlessness, and helplessness. They no longer take interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed; this may include things like going out with friends or even sex.

The signs and symptoms of depression vary from person to person illness, common symptoms of depression includes, feelings of pessimism, persistent sad, anxious, empty feelings, persistent aches or pains, headaches, Cramps, digestive problems that do not ease even with treatment, difficulty concentrating, fatigue and decreased energy and loss of interest in activities.

Lexapro is part of a class of drugs called as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs for short.

SSRIs act on a specific chemical within the brain known as serotonin. Serotonin is one of several chemicals used to send messages from one nerve cell to another. Lexapro is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of depression. The main ingredient of this medicine is Cipralex. This medicine can be used for other medical conditions as prescribed by the doctor or health care professional.

You should know full information about the medicine before making any use of it, to avoid any serious side effect. Few precautions needs to be taken are as follows:-
1) Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it or to its ingredient.
2) Lexapro medicine should not be used by people who are suffering from liver disease, kidney disease, epilepsy, seizures, bipolar disorder or manic depression, suicidal thoughts or a history of drug abuse.
3) Pregnant and breastfeeding mother should not use this medicine as use of this medicine is not recommended by the doctor as use of this medicine may harm the health of unborn baby or nursed child.

Before taking this medicine you should inform your doctor if you are taking any prescription, non prescription and herbal medicine to avoid interaction with other medicine. Lexapro medicine should be used as it is prescribed by the doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose of the medicine on your own as it may lead to serious side effect. Take this medicine with a full glass of water with or without food. Try to take the medicine at the same time each day. Keep all medicines away from the reach of the children and pet.
