I recently returned from a trip to India, a hectic, active, rapidly growing environment with tremendous opportunity.
I've been going to India for the past 6 years and the expansion, change and growth has been staggering. The last night before my return I ate at the Hard Rock Cafe Bengaluru. I was surprised to learn that there are actually 4 other locations in India: Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Hyderabad. After some investigating I learned that the Hard Rock Cafe has over 149 locations in 53 countries through out the world.
The food at the Bangalore location was consistent compared to multiple U.S. Hard Rock locations that I have visited. I wondered what is the IT infrastructure that ties this globally distributed business together. Any organization that requires consistency across a distributed environment certainly must be dependent on data and the analysis of said data.
If a successful global restaurant chain is possibly managing and protecting their data, what is your organization doing? Are you competitive with your current IT solution? Will you be competitive tomorrow with your IT solution?
I'm pretty sure that you need an IT edge to be operating consistent restaurants in 53 countries. Food for thought literally and figuratively...
