Anybody out there?

By rogersarkansas on  From arktimes.com
This was supposed to go up as the Monday night open line about 4:45 p.m. That's about the time our web and server provider crash, taking us and many other customers around the country with them. Service restored about 9:15 p.m. So a quick rundown of other stuff: * RAZORBACK TRAGEDY: To fully understand the Petrino meltdown, writes George Schroeder in Sports Illustrated, you have to understand the full context of the Razorback saga. In other words, you must go back to The Big Shootout in 1969...Read Full Story

State Police to update Petrino crash details

By rogersarkansas on  From arktimes.com
I raised a series of questions this morning about how State Police Capt. Lance King came to be involved in helping Hog coach Bobby Petrino to the hospital, including questions aimed at determining whether he knew Petrino had company and whether King had counseled Good Samaritan motorists about giving information to reporters. The people who first picked up Petrino after his motorcycle accident in Madison County have denied to the press that Petrino had female companionship in their car. In...Read Full Story

Scandal another ugly exit for Petrino

By Cartman on  From ncaagridirongab.com
If only Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long had left a laminated pink slip taped to football coach Bobby Petrino’s office door. Or on his mangled Harley-Davidson. Petrino, who guided the Razorbacks to a 21-5 record the past two seasons and their first BCS bowl game, was fired Tuesday after Long realized what most of us already knew about his former football coach — he bends the truth like Bubba Watson bends golf shots. Long informed Petrino of his dismissal via letter — which has to sit...Read Full Story

Bobby Petrino is a jerk and liar UPDATE

By rogersarkansas on  From arktimes.com
INFORMATION, PLEASE: Time to check phone records of Bobby Petrino, Jessica Dorrell Perhaps you think the headline exaggerates. Perhaps you should ask the staff of the Cotton Bowl, if you could catch them in a candid moment, about their dealings with the haughty Bobby Petrino entourage, my friends in the Arkansas sportswriting community say. Or perhaps you should ask people in Montana, Louisville or Atlanta — all past way stations on the career path of the Razorbacks' admittedly excellent...Read Full Story

Petrino watch: Fans rally as Jeff Long deliberates

By rogersarkansas on  From arktimes.com
IS TODAY THE DAY? Bobby Petrino's future hangs in the balance. A fan group is building a growing Facebook page — Team Save Coach Petrino — to support the continued University of Arkansas employment of football coach Bobby Petrino. He's a winner and they don't want to lose him. All else is immaterial to the fans, some 7,000 at last look. An MSNBC blogger refers to the Petrino backers as "sheep," a flavor of the national press coverage on the matter. Fans, naturally, care little about what...Read Full Story

By Cartman on  From ncaagridirongab.com
Arkansas will introduce John L. Smith as head coach Tuesday, replacing Bobby Petrino, who was fired earlier this month. According to Joe Schad of ESPN.com, the school confirmed the hiring on Monday night. Smith signed a 10-month contract worth $850,000. Smith coached with Petrino at Arkansas, Michigan State, Louisville and Utah State and was the special teams coach at Arkansas for the past three seasons. He left for Weber State, his alma mater, without coaching a game. According to a source...Read Full Story

By rogersarkansas on  From arktimes.com
NICK PETRINO Today was the date Razorback football coach Bobby Petrino's son Nick Petrino, 23, a sometime undergraduate assistant coach on the University of Arkansas football team, had been scheduled for trial on a drug possession and DWI charges filed last July in Huntingburg, Ind. I reported on that case in January. When I checked in with the Indiana court today, I learned that a plea bargain had been struck in the case in February. He entered guilty pleas to two charges and four others...Read Full Story
