Could Peterson Take the Field Sunday vs the Giants?

Peterson hurt

Could Vikings superstar rookie back Adrian Peterson see the field Sunday when the Vikings travel to the Meadowlands to take on the Giants?  Probably not, but nevertheless, the back was upgraded to questionable on the official teams injury report Friday, meaning that he does have a 50-50 chance of playing.  Peterson was injured just two weeks ago when he tore the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee against the Packers.  It looked as if he would miss at least a few weeks, but he has worked hard to get ready and back on the field.

“There’s a 50-50 chance he’ll play [this week],” Vikngs coach Brad Childress said. “That’s as professional of fence-riding as you can get, isn’t it?”  The Vikings have to think long term about the health of their franchise player, and it would be foolish to rush him back this soon.  But, the sad state that the team seems to be in might suggest that they would rush him back before he’s 100 percent.  Don’t forget the team does have Chester Taylor, who rushed for three TD’s last week in a win over the awful Oakland Radiers at home.

The word is the rookie back, when he’s back on the field, will wear a brace on the knee to protect it.  “It feels like it’s been stiffening me up,” Peterson said. “It’s really just getting used to the brace and everything.”  This season Peterson has rushed for 1081 yards with 8 TD’s and 15 catches for 220 yards and a score.
