Staring at a possible 0-16 record, Lions coach Rod Marinelli said Tuesday he hasn’t received many calls of support heading into Sunday’s season-ending game at Green Bay. “It’s kind of quiet,” Marinelli said in a relaxed tone. After the team’s midday indoor practice, Marinelli then expressed his resolve at a time of sheer disappointment. “I don’t need anything from anybody,” said Marinelli, who still appeared calm and relaxed.

“Never have, never will.” Asked if he would take “a lifeline” if someone gave it, Marinelli then provided a humorous, yet pointed response. “I would throw it back,” Marinelli said. “I would rather drown.” Those comments aren’t a surprise to some of Marinelli’s players, who also don’t want excessive phone calls, text messages and other forms of encouragement this week
