Rob Parker of the Detroit News, who created a firestorm a couple of weeks ago with an over-the-line comment to Lions coach Rod Marinelli, has resigned.
Parker resigned Friday after losing his columnist title and being demoted to “general assignment sports reporter.”
We hate to see the guy lose his job, but there’s a certain harmony to the fact that Parker and Marinelli and the guy about whom Parker badgered Marinelli, former Lions defensive coordinator Joe Barry, are all out of work.
Parker also is a contributor to ESPN, which said in the wake of Parker’s remarks to Marinelli that there would be no change in his status. It remains to be seen whether his departure from the Detroit News has an impact on his status.
