Kathie Lee Gifford made a pretty huge mistake on 'Today' when she asked 'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted' star Martin Short about his wife Nancy Dolman. The problem? Dolman died of ovarian cancer in 2010.  

This week saw Kathie Lee Gifford of The Today as protagonist of what has been branded the most awkward moment in television in recent years, when she asked Martin Short about his wife, who had passed away. Luckily for her, Mr. Short is a gentleman all the way.

but after a commercial break Gifford said that Short informed her that his wife had died and she apologized on-camera. As to Gifford’s comment about having one of the “great” marriages in Hollywood, Short also told her “I still do.”  

Actor Martin Short has accepted Kathie Lee Gifford's apology after she quizzed him about his marriage to his late wife during a live TV interview on Wednesday. The "Father of the Bride" star has since said that he knew Gifford meant no harm. Short tells E!
