Cole Hamels pitched eight scoreless innings, finishing up by retiring Bryce Harper on a grounder as the Philadelphia Phillies snapped a season-long four-game losing streak Wednesday night with a 3-1 victory against the Washington Nationals.  

Cole Hamels had the major league lead in victories all to himself for a good 15 minutes or so. Lynn did turn in the slightly better performance today, allowing two runs in seven innings and matching his season high with eight strikeouts.  

Cole Hamels proved to be the streak stopper the Phillies needed. Hamels, whose no-hit bid was broken up with one out in the sixth inning, allowed four hits through eight innings in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park.
