A former employee of Roush Fenway Racing is suing the organization for firing him shortly after an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Jason Myers says his February termination is in violation of the Family Medical Leave Act. He has filed a civil complaint in Cabarrus County Superior Court that seeks more than $10,000 in damages. Myers spent three seasons as car chief for Carl Edwards but was demoted to mechanic this year. With teams scrambling to find sponsorships and raise enough money to run full schedules in this economic crisis, Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Smith thinks NASCAR should reconsider its four-car limit in the Sprint Cup. Matt Kenseth, the 2003 NASCAR champion, has signed a multi-year extension with Roush Fenway Racing. The 36 year-old driver has been with Roush since his rookie of the year season in 1998 and has 16 wins. Kenseth’s last win was at the 2007 season-ending race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Kenseth’s teammates, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle, signed three-year extensions earlier in the year. Jamie McMurray and David Ragan will also continue to drive for Roush in 2009.
