Prior to becoming a Grad Assist, I worked in the Office of Admissions for a good 2-3 years as a campus tour guide. I believe that first impressions really do count. I loved giving the tours, as it was an opportunity for me to play a part in prospective students decisions. I still remember my tour and my tour guide at Lynn. Very often, I will walk past someone on campus, or meet someone, and they’ll say: “hey, you were my tour guide when I first came to Lynn”. I feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that I obviously aided in helping them chose ... Read Full Story

OK. So what I'm hearing from responses from the last post and several others is the sentiment: DON'T LEAVE COLLEGE. Everyone wishes they were still there. After reading the advice everyone left for me, a lot of things sunk in. Trying to make college 'the best years of my life' shouldn't be a burden but rather an exciting realization that it's a completely unique time in my life. I have been waiting for this event for so long. KAT looked at bringing it to campus last year, but because of liability reasons general counsel decided it wasn’t the best idea. This year they granted us permission and the event was a huge success. Since we started at 11am there has been lines to check out this great experience. We went into first come first serve, but I started just a general list because it was a challenge to ... Read Full Story

We get to see all kinds of showcases for events to bring to campus. We registered for the conference and right outside registration were two individuals: one doing balloon animals, the other doing face painting. John got “Joker” painted on his arm. Tova got a balloon animal of Tinkerbell. SHE WAS SO EXCITED!! Lynette got a Minnie Mouse balloon animal. Tova then got a, what I call, pink/purple eyes of a ... Read Full Story

Oklahoma State University kicks off the weekend. A weekend of pure fun, excitement, friendship, and leadership. This was one of my favorite weekends this whole academic year. It was my second NACURH conference, but this time I was representing SAACURH as Director. As part of the National Board of Directors we reviewed RHA Building Block, Program of the Year, and School of the Year. Both of the National Offices: NACURH Information Center and National Services and Recognition Office were up for bid. Seeing this bid presentations were amazing. I was really able to become closer with the NBD and other students in our region. ... Read Full Story
