College life is a time for new friends, new living arrangements, new experiences and new threats. The first lesson to learn in college is how to be safe on and around your campus.
The Basics:
Reduce the risk of becoming a victim of theft or assault by remembering to lock your doors (even just to go down the hall to the laundry room), keeping valuables (laptops, ipods, etc) out of plain site, close windows on the first floor and ensure that anytime you access a...Read Full Story
Over the past four years, my career as a tenant and subleter, with and without Craigslist, has been chaotic at best. I remember freshman year when I was assigned to an all-girls floor of “the Ritz” Claflin, one of the older, neglected buildings at BU. The culture of the dorm was divided, half of us came from wealthy, Jewish families and had never had to share anything in our lives, and the other half were grateful to have vending machines in the basement. I still remember my tour and my tour guide at Lynn. Very often, I will walk past someone on campus, or meet someone, and they’ll say: “hey, you were my tour guide when I first came to Lynn”. I feel a sense of...Read Full Story
OK. So what I'm hearing from responses from the last post and several others is the sentiment: DON'T LEAVE COLLEGE. Everyone wishes they were still there. After reading the advice everyone left for me, a lot of things sunk in. Trying to make college 'the best years of my life' shouldn't be a burden but rather an exciting realization that it's a completely unique time in my life. There are things I can take advantage of and appreciate without also looking forward to the future. I'd like to...Read Full Story
