Its that wonderful time of year when LSU Baseball dominates the world in the NCAA Baseball tournament. The #3 overall seeded (#2 ranked in polls) Bayou Bengals went 3-0 with combined scores of 23-7 in the three games of Regional Play and advanced to face Rice in the Super Regional this weekend. Nice. The Tigers are dominant.

Living in Big Ten land, I must also rejoice not only in the success of the Tigers but also their SEC compatriots, Florida, Mississippi, and Arkansas who also advanced to the Super Regionals. Congrats to the SEC.
It wouldn't be fair to those in Big Ten land here though if I only mentioned the SEC and failed to mention that three Big Ten teams did make it to the tournament: Ohio State, Minnesota, and Indiana. Actually, it would be fair, but they sucked so bad I really want to mention it!
IU promptly lost their first 2 games in the double elimination regional by a combined score of 18-2. Awesome. Minnesota was unlucky in that they drew LSU's regional--so they had no shot. After already having lost once to Baylor 5-0, the Tigers whipped the Gophers 10-3. Two down.
Ohio State is my favorite. Of course there is no love lost between me and OSU, I "sports hate" them. It is perfectly acceptable. Pay close attention to this and remember these are BASEBALL scores--not football (although due to their recent blowouts in big football games one could easily be confused).
Ohio State lost one of their games 24-8 to Georgia. Thats bad. In their final game, they were walloped 37-7 by Florida State. 37-6!! Holy Crap that is amazing!!
In all, if you look just at their losses, Big Ten teams were outscored 94-19! (An average margin of defeat of 12.5 points per loss. By comparison, the SEC averaged a 3.1 run margin of defeat in their losses.)
Overall, the Big Ten went 4-6 in their games. The SEC went 18-9. In fact, if you take out the two weakest SEC teams, the top teams went 17-5 (.772 win pct).
Jump on board and root for LSU in the touranment. You will probably find yourself celebrating at the end!

GEAUX TIGERS!
