Collin Wilcox Paxton, the actress who played the little girl who claimed a black man raped her in the 1962 film To Kill A Mockingbird, died October 14 at 74 of brain cancer. She had lived in Highlands, North Carolina since the '80s when she left her career as an actress to take care of her mother in her hometown.

Wilcox made her film debut in Mockingbird, and then went on to act in films like Crazy October and Strange Interlude. She also appeared in TV shows such as Columbo and The Waltons.
After her acting career was over, she moved back to her North Carolina hometown, where her and her husband Scott founded the Highlands Studio for the Arts, as well as created a local acting troupe. She is survived by her husband and 2 children.
