Wallace Almost For Sure to Start at QB Sunday Against Cardinals

Quarterback Colt McCoy was sent home again Thursday with concussion symptoms, and it looks more and more like it’ll be backup Seneca Wallace getting the nod to start for the 4-9 Browns Sunday at Arizona.

Coach Pat Shurmur wouldn’t formally rule out McCoy for Sunday, but he said, “if Colt can’t go then Seneca will start. He’s taken all the reps too this point and in the event that Colt doesn’t play and the longer he goes here this week without practicing the more we can assume that that may be the case. We just haven’t ruled him out yet.”

McCoy hasn’t done anything all week after getting crushed last Thursday night against the Steelers by an illegal hit by Steelers LB James Harrison, who earned a one-game suspension.

Shurmur says that despite the fact the team will have a backup in there at QB, the team will still take steps forward, and will have no reservations they are going to Arizona to get a win.

“We’re expecting to score more points. I think we’ve talked about that. We need to score more points,” Shurmur said. “There are some things that we’ve done well. There are some elements of our offense that have improved, some of the stuff we’ve done on third down, some of the things we’ve done to ball control with certain guys in-and-out of the lineup. We’ve talked about eliminating drops, some of those things. As we move forward you’re always fighting for, offensively, efficiency.”
