The Debate

So I told my wife I wouldn't blog about the debate because every blogger in the world is talking about it right now and as soon as it was over Huffington Post was declaring Barak Obama the winner, as was ABC news and CNN was throwing in their support of him, again... I hate politics, but the black hole that is this election sucked me in and so I'm sitting here blogging about politics... I hate myself...
Anyway, all jokes aside, I declare John McCain the winner. I mean come on, I'm a voter just like everyone at Huffington Post and with their performance I think I have about as much journalistic credibility as they do, so I guess I have the right to declare the winner too. Why do they think only radical liberals have it correct?
Ok, for real this time, all jokes aside, I do think John McCain did better. He was able to talk details rather than broad generalizations which is what Barak Obama did. Barak Obama said several times that John McCain was right. The ability to provide detail over generalizations shows experience in an area.
Barak Obama seemed flustered and angry while John McCain was calm, cool, and collected. Of course many liberals have pointed out McCain stumbling over a few hard to pronounce names. At least he knew the names of various world leaders. How many times did Obama say the name of one of these guys? I'll tell you, I spent two and a half years in Iraq and I still have a hard time telling the difference between an Iraqi saying Ahmad, Hamid, and Muhammad. They clip the first syllable so the "H" on Hamid and the "Mu" on Muhammad comes off, making it all sound like Ahmad... Anyway, point being, at least McCain knew the names of these world leaders and could talk details about their actions, unlike Barak Obama.
Finely, what was with the cheap shot over the KIA bracelet? McCain is a vet and therefore more qualified to wear one. They aren't exactly the latest fashion statement though I expect to see Obama supporters wearing them now as a form of anti-war protest and I think that would be despicable. As soon as McCain pointed it out and said what most vets think, "don't let their deaths be in vain" Obama pulled his out and said "I have one too!" and used it to protest the war. That was a low and cheap shot and as a vet who has lost friends in Iraq I wanted to scream a number of things at him I can't repeat here.
So McCain won the debate in my mind, liberal media polls be damned, and I hope he wins the election. I registered to vote in Jefferson County NY, where the voting machines have been left unsecured this election season (or so I overheard some election workers saying) so I don't know if my vote will count, but I'm still casting it for McCain.
