A community portal about Conan the Barbarian with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Conan the Barbarian is a fictional character and an iconic figure in modern day popular culture often associated with the sword and sorcery subgenre. Created by American writer Robert E. Howard in 1932 via a series of fantasy pulp stories sold to Weird Tales magazine, the character has since appeared in licensed books, comics, films, television programs and video games, contributing to his long-standing popularity.
Age of Conan Beta Passes 1 Million Sign-Ups
Looks like upcoming MMO Age of Conan is finding at least a few gamers that are looking for something different.
In a released statement, Funcom and Eidos are stating that beta sign-ups for the game have now surpassed the one million mark, a figure the companies claim is a first.
"Funcom has not been able to find any higher beta numbers for MMOs in the western world," said Morten Larssen, VP of Funcom Sales and Marketing. "We believe it represents the largest ever beta sign-up figure in the history of the genre."
The game is set to launch on May 20th in North America, and May 23rd in Europe.
Despite all this talk of casual games taking over the market, it's certainly turning into a banner year for mature-themed titles, first with Grand Theft Auto IV and now with Age of Conan.
