Alabama's "talented Democrat" Artur Davis about to jump ship to the GOP?

From Eric Dondero:

For years, former Congressman Artur Davis who represented northern Alabama, was viewed as a jetison rising star in the Democrat Party. Now, as Politico reports, after being defeated for reelection, and a subsequent failed bid for the Democrat nomination for Governor, he's "persona non-grata" in Obama's party. So much so, that the rumore mills are churning, he's on the way out the door.
Many of his former Democratic colleagues now view him as something of a traitor, and Davis himself has emerged as a vigorous critic of the party and President Barack Obama. He’s even taking to supporting GOP candidates. Friends and allies who helped guide his ascent say they no longer talk to the congressman — and some Democrats believe he will leave the party altogether.

“I have been chairman for a year and no one in this office has been contacted by Artur or members of his staff. That tells me he’s left the party behind,” said Alabama Democratic Party Chairman Mark Kennedy
Note - as Democrats go, Davis had a relatively moderate record in his years in congress. He was particularly good on gun issues and even won accolaydes from the NRA (source).
