Mental Health Parity Wednesday night, a bipartisan majority in the House passed landmark legislation that will help end discrimination against patients requiring treatment for mental illness. The Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act (H.R. 1424) , sponsored by Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) and Jim Ramstad (R-MN) was approved by a vote of 268-148. There has been a trend of academic professionals chucking in their jobs and taking up highly paid positions elsewhere. Does that mean we will begin to hear about Stockbrokers who know their Socrates from their Chaucer or Oil Rig Engineers technicians who can also diagnose mononucleosis ? No indeed! I have talked to too many parents who have moved their middle and high school students to Stratford, not so much for the curriculum, but to keep their child safe and protected from the general population.
