Poor, poor John Shadegg. The Arizona Republican admits that to him the Congress is “so boring,” even as he runs for yet another term of office. Help wee John before he falls into a tantrum. Send a nice, soft blankie to P.O. Box 45444, Phoenix, AZ 85064.Read Full Story

Congressman John Shadegg’s New Prop

By topstoriestucson on  From topstoriestucson.com
The New York Times brings us this tidbit from this weekend’s health-care debate in the U.S. House of Representatives: Representative John Shadegg, Republican of Arizona, held up the tiniest prop so far, a little girl called Maddie, 7 months old, whom he introduced as the daughter of a staff member. After saying he wished she were his grandchild, Mr. Shadegg apparently began channeling the infant’s hopes and dreams for the future of health care: “Maddie likes America because we have freedom...Read Full Story

Bob Lord Pummels John Shadegg over Failure on 21st Century GI Bill

By James Cook on  From thatsmycongress.com
Democratic candidate Bob Lord is staging a smart campaign to unseat incumbent Republican John Shadegg from his House seat for the 3rd District of Arizona. Lord’s campaign has sent out five blistering news releases asking the boastful Shadegg why he won’t cosponsor H.R. 5740, the 21st Century GI Bill. Here was the first, sent out on April 29, 2008: PHOENIX — Today Bob Lord endorsed Congressman Harry Mitchell’s 21st Century GI bill and is asking Congressman John Shadegg why he isn’t supporting...Read Full Story

The Nookyular Bit is John Shadegg’s Smallest Problem

By James Cook on  From thatsmycongress.com
A staffer with the Bob Lord for Congress campaign sent me a communication today suggesting that I might want to write a little something about how that kooky John Shadegg fella pronounces the word nuclear “nookyular”… just like George W. Bush! I have to admit, it is kind of funny, at least in a juvenile student council race sort of way. But you know, I think I wouldn’t mind so much if John Shadegg said “nookyular” just like George W. Bush, so long as… … he didn’t support an unnecessary...Read Full Story

Indecisive, Bored John Shadegg Goes Mum On Debates

Arizona Republican congressman John Shadegg recently declared that “Congress can be so boring.” Before that, he had a hard time deciding whether he actually wanted to run for re-election to the U.S. Congress. Well, now he’s having a hard time deciding whether he wants to even talk about the issues before his district. Democrat Bob Lord challenged John Shadegg to a series of substantive debates more than two weeks ago. A campaign insider tells me today that John Shadegg hasn’t bothered to...Read Full Story

Shadegg Back on Daily Show: Plotting Against America

By topstoriestucson on  From topstoriestucson.com
Jon Stewart talked about things we’re not thankful for last night, and Arizona Congressman John Shadegg—who last week dangled a baby on the House floor as a prop—makes the list after he suggested that terrorists should consider kidnapping New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s kids. Shadegg has since apologized, sorta. We think Stewart should be thankful for Shadegg, who has made so many recent appearances on The Daily Show that he’s practically a correspondent. And you have to love the shot of...Read Full Story
