Calls his own constituents a "Mob"A large protest of over 150 people was held at a town hall meeting to discuss health care on Sunday, in south Austin. Congressman Lloyd Doggett, a member of the House and Ways Committee, hosted the town hall. The meeting erupted into roars of disapproval.
At one point Doggett answered that he would certainly vote against his constituents' wishes on the legislation even if a majority opposed him.
Today, Doggett issued this statement to
Politico.com, and CBS News:
"This mob, sent by the local Republican and Libertarian parties, did not come just to be heard, but to deny others the right to be heard. And this appears to be part of a coordinated, nationwide effort. What could be more appropriate for the "party of no" than having its stalwarts drowning out the voices of their neighbors by screaming "just say no!"
UPDATE!
