Is Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) a Communist?

Are House Democrats skipping socialism and going straight to communism?? Granted this is hardly a news article and mostly just one person making an asinine comment, which then gets blown way out of proportion like everything else. But still, a US Representative making this comment makes me stop and think.

Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), member of the House Appropriations Committee and one of the most-ardent opponents of off-shore drilling

"We (the government) should own the refineries. Then we can control how much gets out into the market."

Communism is a socioeconomic structure that promotes the establishment of a classless, stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production.

Now, I am never one to defend the oil companies because, quite frankly, they will never defend me and I couldn't give a rat's, umm, butt, what happens to them. They have all the money in the world to defend themselves. I can honestly care less. They are a victim of their own poor PR more than anything. But, isn't nationalization of the refineries going a bit too far? Outside of any argument whether you agree with drilling in protected zones or not, does it make sense for the United States Government to get involved in the ownership of refineries? Again, this is just one person in the House commenting and not the opinion of (hopefully) anyone else as Drudge Report would have you believe, but it is a reckless opinion either way.
