The Problem With “Moderate” Democrats like Baron Hill

Representative Baron HillIn rural southern Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, Congressman Baron Hill (D) is trying to fight off former Representative Mike Sodrel (R), who wants his Congressional Seat back after he lost lost it in one of the most disastrous mid-term elections in Republican Party history.

Sodrel is an amazing American and an astounding leader who truly represents the values and the people of Indiana’s 9th.

Now, Representative Baron Hill is by no means a “Nancy Pelosi”. He doesn’t vote blindly with Democrats on everything and he brags about being named one of the most “moderate” Democrats in Congress on the front page of his website. That’s because Hill knows southern Indiana is one of the most conservative parts of our state and if he campaigned on the Democrat Party Line, he would be annihilated.

But here’s the problem with Baron Hill and other Democrats representing conservative districts in Indiana and across the country: they’re still Democrats and they caucus with Democrats.

You see, by caucusing with the Democratic Party, they’ve essentially become the reason Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House and thus are the reason why the Democrats are controlling the agenda (for lack of a better word) in Congress.

The other problem with moderate Democrats in conservative districts is that it completely strips the people of that district any chance to see their Congressmen become effective leaders in Washington.

Think about it, Baron Hill says he is opposed to amnesty and will only support citizenship for those who entered the country legally. Well, with Nancy Pelosi in charge of Congress, what are the chances she’s going to let Baron Hill bring such a measure to the House Floor?

Less than zero.

If the people of Indiana’s 9th Congressional District want someone who will not only vote against Amnesty, but take a leading role in issues like Border Security, Energy Independence, the Fair Tax, and Family Values; then Mike Sodrel is the ONLY candidate they can vote for.
