Let me give you some background, last year my tax return showed that I owed the IRS a couple thousand dollars when I filed. I was out of work for nearly five months at the end of the year, and it's left me with few options but a payment plan. For months, I have watched penalty and interest charges add up and the debt to the IRS barely move towards my favor. As I listened to Rush Limbaugh today, he mentioned the Republicans are throwing it right back at the Democrats. As you know Timothy Geithner, our new Treasury Secretary and boss of the ... On November 24, I wrote the following letter ( Peace of Mind Campaign ) to Congressman Roy Blunt: Dear Mr. Blunt, I tend not to follow conspiracies, but there is an issue that concerns the sanctity of our Constitution, a document I once took an oath to protect. I am sure you are aware of the Obama birth certificate discussions taking place around our country. We owe it to ourselves to be certain that Mr. Obama holds the qualifications the Constitution lists to be President. Our Constitution has taken a few blows in recent years, and I feel it’s time to speak up before ... Read Full Story

Some wonder if racism & liberal politics go hand and hand, I would have to 100% agree with that sentiment, especially with the reaction I have seen after a comment made by Congressman Roy Blunt (R-Missouri), who is leaving his Congressional seat to run for Senator, has been taken out of context, as usual. Liberals and even some *Conservatives are wondering if Blunt's analogy of a bunch of crazy monkeys at an Indian golf course is racism aimed towards Obama. From the New York Times blog, which actually did not have the claim of racism in it, but a few blogs & reader comments ... Read Full Story

As the debate over health care reform heats up, an effort to place a billboard in Rep. Roy Blunt's home district has been, well, blunted. The billboard was to have featured a picture of Blunt (R-Mo.) with the words: "Roy Blunt has taken $556,682 in contributions from the insurance industry. Is that why he won't take our side on health care reform?" Blunt, now in his seventh term, is a vocal opponent of efforts by President Obama and congressional Democrats to enact comprehensive healthcare reform. Blunt says that a bill approved last month by the House Energy and Commerce Committee would amount to a ... Read Full Story

U.S. Congressman Roy Blunt (R) lags Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) by only 2 points in a recent poll of a hypothetical match-up between the two for Missouri's open Senate seat in 2010. The poll showed 44 percent in favor of Blunt, 46 percent for Carnahan, 4 percent for another candidate, and 6 percent unsure. With the number of unsure voters and the margin of error, Blunt and Carnahan are in a statistical dead heat. "This neck and...

Apart from the fine print that reads, "This mailing was prepared published and mailed at taxpayer expense," it's hard to the tell the difference between the messages in Congressman Roy Blunt's most recent taxpayer-financed mailer and the Roy Blunt for Senate campaign's defensive attacks in recent weeks. Jim Lee's Busplunge blog has the scoop on the mailer, an obvious response to the League of Conservation Voters' "Stain" ads playing on the...

One of the best quotes among those who opposed the health care bill which just passed the House by a 220 to 215 margin, came from Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt: "It's a 2000 page roadmap to a government takeover of health care," Missouri Republican Roy Blunt said of the House bill.

At the beginning of the year, next year's Senate race in Missouri, likely to feature Republican Roy Blunt and Democrat Robin Carnahan, looked really tight. And now, in December, it looks... really tight. Rasmussen has Carnahan ahead by 2 percentage points. Rasmussen has Obama's approval rating splitting 47 percent approve, 53 percent disapproving, so I might be mildly nervous if I were Carnahan. Obama and the Democrats managed to bring out...
