My thanks for contacting me about Barack Obama’s historic inauguration. Unfortunately, due to the limited number available, your request for tickets cannot be accommodated. Please understand that my office has received thousands of ticket requests and simply could not cover them all.

While we are disappointed we could not do more, we have tried our best to help as many constituents as possible. Each House office received just 198 tickets. The majority of my allocation was distributed on a first-come first-served basis, with no individual constituent request receiving more than two tickets. A small number of tickets was set aside for local elected officials, my staff and some members of my family.

Fortunately, for those still interested in witnessing the swearing-in ceremony, the full length of the National Mall, traditionally closed during Presidential Inaugurations, will be open to the general public and lined with large screens. No tickets are needed to watch the swearing-in ceremony between 4^th Street and the Lincoln Memorial. Should you decide to come to Washington for the inauguration, please contact my office and we will try to include you in events we are planning.
