Bush to Lift Executive Ban on Offshore Drilling

The mainstream media is spinning right now after the news that President Bush will lift the ban on offshore drilling. MSNBC reports:

The White House says President Bush is planning to lift an executive ban on offshore oil drilling.

In a Rose Garden statement on Monday, the president plans to lift the ban. But by itself, the move will not lead to more drilling off America’s coastline.

Congress must still lift its own legislative ban before offshore drilling can happen.

Now, we wait to see what Congress does. I know that some of you are against this drilling, but I'm not and I'm not even being affected by these high gas prices as some other folks are because I don't have a family to feed and take care of. But, I am all about making sure I'm not just throwing my money away and that's what I feel like I'm doing week in and week out as gas prices ride a see-saw each month.

Now, we wait. John McCain has already said he's open to the idea of offshore drilling. Backtrack Obama has said he's not. Now that Bush has said he's willing to lift the ban, something the majority of Americans are in favor of, Obama's back is against the wall. If he comes out against this drilling, we will all then be able to officially say he.is.toast. I tell you, those Republicans don't mess around. This is a power play tried and true.
