Well, folks, we have a winner! I’ve been pondering which government official most deserves to sit at the left hand of Lucifer and at last I have found her! Speaker Nancy Pelosi did her level best to kick the ladder out from under Hillary Clinton last year, truly the most qualified of the bunch, in 2008. Now Politico tells us the following: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be endorsing Rep. Michael Capuano in the Massachusetts Senate special election, choosing her House colleague over Attorney General Martha Coakley, who is seeking to become the first female senator in the state. Pelosi will be heading to ... Read Full Story

The svelte models strutted down the catwalk in sexy dresses with bare backs and short hemlines — all under the watchful portraits of Syrian President Bashar Assad and his late father, Hafez. The glitzy occasion was Syria's first ever fashion design competition, meant to encourage young Syrian talents and local products. But perhaps more importantly, it was part of the authorities' recent efforts to soften Syria's image and open up the authoritarian country. A tightly controlled nation often vilified by the West for harboring militant Palestinian organizations and criticized for alleged support for Iraqi insurgents, Syria has worked hard in recent years to shed ... Saudi Arabia's king on Wednesday made his first visit to Syria since becoming monarch, the strongest indication yet of thawing relations between the two rival nations following years of tension. King Abdullah's visit is also the first by a Saudi ruler since the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, a close Saudi ally. Syria was widely blamed for his death, which came only months before Abdullah became king, but Damascus has denied any responsibility. The two Arab countries have also been at odds over several regional issues, including Syria's close ties with Shiite Muslim Iran. They have recently made moves toward ... Read Full Story

Syria's president on Monday issued a decree banning smoking in public places, joining an anti-smoking trend already under way in other Arab countries. The ban also includes a rare restriction in the Arab world: limiting places where Syrians can indulge in the hubbly bubbly — water pipes known as argileh here. President Bashar Assad's decree, which will go into effect in six months, bans smoking in restaurants, cafes, cinemas and theaters, educational institutions, official functions and places of public transport. It also imposes a fine of 2,000 Syrian pounds — about $45 — on offenders. Syria had taken steps before to try to restrict ... Read Full Story

Democrats in Washington are out to cut health care costs at the expense of the research-intensive (as opposed to generic) pharmaceutical industry.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's massive overhaul of the health car system may cost the pharmaceutical industry $150 billion over a decade.  This is a sure-fire prescription for fewer new life-saving drugs, say Henry I. Miller, a physician and fellow at the Hoover Institution, and Jeff Stier, an...

Posted by GOP Leader (John Boehner) Press Office on November 19th, 2009 Just like the original 2,032-page, government-run health care plan from Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) massive, 2,074-page bill would levy a new “abortion premium” fee on Americans in the government-run plan.

39 Democrats voted against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) health care reform package last Saturday, and conventional wisdom says this was a good move, campaign-wise. These lawmakers represent conservative districts--31 of 39 of which backed McCain in 2008--and the Democratic health care reform (whatever that may be, exactly) is opposed, on average, by most Americans--even though some reputable polls have shown strong, some would say...

I am really not sure who Sandra Rose is. It appears she has some kind of Hollywood celebrity blog, but she sure understands prison, Nancy Pelosi and, it appears, the constitution.
