"Culture of Corruption" is on the other foot this time

Four years ago, the media shined a much needed light on Republicans who were tied to criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff.  Many of those Republicans were rightly bounced out of office that election year because they had chosen an unethical path and violated the public trust.
Today, however, we don't seem to hear about some of the elected officials -- Dodd, Frank, et al -- who should be hog tied to the criminals involved in the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Heck, corporate executives responsible aren't even being talked about in the media at all, even though this financial debacle dwarfs the likes of Enron and WorldCom.  Some of these guys make Ken Lay look like a Sunday School teacher.
Not only that, with a the pork-laden bailout package recently passed by the Senate, we're putting huge chunks of our financial  infrastructure into the hands of the elected officials who were the supreme enablers to the greedy CEOs in the first place.  And yes, those are the CEOs who made it a point to shower the afore-to-mentioned politicians with campaign cash.  If you'd like a really concise explanation of what has happened, go here.
Suffice it to say that if these politicians had been Republicans, this story would be plastered over the front pages of every newspaper in the country and on every network and cable news show round-the-clock.  And Congress would be firing up the magical hearing machine to pillory these Republicans and shame them from public life.
In 2006, the Republican party was correctly painted with the "Culture of Corruption" brush.  I am by no means defending any of them.  They made their beds and then had to lie in them. What I AM saying is that the current Democrat "Culture of Corruption" is far worse and has caused far greater damage, impacting many millions more citizens and businesses.  And we have heard nary a peep.
I call for names to be named -- Democrat and Republican -- and for those politicians to be put on notice so they will be heading home from Washington at the next available opportunity.
Anybody with me?
