In 1969, John Rendall and Ace Berg saw a lion cub for sale at Harrods Department Store in London. Cramped and lonely in a small cage, they decided to bring the cub home. A local vicar allowed John and Ace to let the cub, now named Christian, to exercise on the church grounds, but he quickly became too big for their apartment.
