Top 10 Juice Extractors

Which juice extractor is right for you? Well, first, you should be aware that there are three basic types of fruit extractor. One is known as a centrifugal juice extractor, which uses cutters to shred food, and then it is put in a basket and spun until the juice is extracted. The juice produced by this machine should be consumed quickly because it is highly oxidized and has a low shelf life.

The masticating juice extractor is a lower-powered version that chews up the food before extracting the juice. The juice produced by these machines are less oxidized and have a longer shelf life.

The hydraulic press juice extractor is the best quality juicer and, naturally, is more expensive than the other two versions. This is for people who are serious about their juice. It uses a vortex tribulator to cut and grate food, and then puts it in a linen bag and runs it through a hydraulic press. This one takes a little more effort than the other two kinds and produces juice with very little oxidation.

Maybe you're thinking about getting a juice extractor for health reasons. That doesn't mean you can't have fun with it. You can look around for new and exciting juice recipes or make up your own. Cranberry-grape juice? Carrot-apple? It's certainly worth a try!

Be sure to juice soft foods first. The harder foods can help push the remaining bits of soft food through the juicer.

Enjoy fresh juice straight out of the blender. For maximum health benefits, drink the juice right away after juicing. Freshly squeezed juice contain substances known as living enzymes that will fade if not drank in the first few minutes after juicing.

Use the pulp for smoothies or soups. If you hate shredding things, pulp can be used in place of shredded veggies and fruit in stuff like carrot cake, fruity muffins and banana bread.

Be sure to clean your juicer as soon as possible! If nothing else, soak it in some soapy water until you have time to clean it. This helps avoid bits of dried food getting stuck on your juicer.
