Turn Junk into Furnitures

As one of Tel Aviv’s most thought-provoking new companies, Junktion is a young, edgy and innovative design studio, is breathing new life into the trash the city has cast aside. The company began in 2008 and has made their presence know in the contemporary furniture market with their unique approach to function and unwavering conviction to challenge how people regard junk.

The designers at Junktion take everyday objects out of their original context and use reclaimed materials infusing them with  new value. In their own words, “People love seeing objects in new ways—stuff that makes us think; stuff that makes us act; stuff that makes us laugh.”
Inspired by items from the past, they get  materials from flea markets all over the world. Each piece is handmade and carefully finished to appear natural in their newfound state. Examples include modern chairs made from old bicycle parts and lamps made of discarded telephone pieces.
Junktion is new to the scene and definitely making waves, and we look forward to seeing what is in store for the future of trash all over the world.

Considered one of Tel Aviv’s newest and most fabulous reuse design studios, they try “to create a meeting point with what the city has already classified as junk.” In taking everyday objects out of context (such as the suitcase-turned-medicine-cabinet on the left), they create funny, clever, and beautiful ways to take another look at things we so easily discard. They believes that “there is enough stuff in the world already and [they] try to take from what there is.” In their own words, they “often find [their] desires in what no longer interests others” and “are committed to go happily to work every day.”
