The St. Louis Rams gained a much-needed $4.5 million in salary-cap space last weekend after working out a restructured contract with defensive end Chris Long, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Long’s cap hit for 2013 was reduced from $13.25 million to $8.75 million, according to the P-D. Part of the savings will come from the Rams converting $6 million of the $13.25 million into a roster bonus, payable this year but pro-rated over the next four seasons for cap purposes.
