In a rather unexpected turn of events, Colts head coach Tony Dungy will stay on as the head coach for one more year. Adam Schefter of the NFL Network is reporting that Dungy has decided to stick around on the sidelines for one more year, then give the head coaching duties over to current assistant Jim Caldwell. It was thought by many (including me) that Dungy would hang it up and walk away to be with his family in Florida.

If Tony Dungy does what a lot of people expect him to do, which is step down as the Colts head coach, their new head coach is already in place. Owner Jim Irsay confirmed on Thursday night that Jim Caldwell will be the teams new head coach when/if Dungy calls it quits. That could be as early as Monday as Dungy said after the teams playoff loss to the Chargers he would talk with his family in Tampa Bay and then make his decision known.

The Corey Simon saga may be finally coming to a close. Following up on a story posted at ColtsGab.com on Saturday, Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy confirmed that the defensive tackle failed a team physical in Indianapolis. Apparently, this was news to Simon and his agent, Roosevelt Barnes.
