American Idol judge Randy Jackson showed a fuller figure yesterday as he dined with friends in Los Angeles.

The 54-year-old star, who lost over seven stone when he had gastric bypass surgery in 2003, looked noticeably larger as he stepped out wearing a tight black T-shirt and jeans.

But Jackson said recently that despite successfully losing weight previously, he never stops trying to maintain his new slimline figure.

‘Constant struggle’: Randy shortly after his gastric bypass (left) and at his heaviest in 2003

He said: ‘The struggle continues. It never ends. I am not some trainer with a half-percentage of body fat – I am a real
guy dealing with obesity.

‘I am the guy who knows what it’s
like to be walking around with 100 extra pounds.’

Jackson added that following the surgery, he drastically changed his diet, but it can often be difficult trying to stay on the straight and narrow with all the junk food around backstage at American Idol.

He said: ‘For the old Dawg, a holiday party was a chance to have something to
eat, drink, and be merry, but the new Randy does not drink or eat at
parties.

‘Food was always my thing, because I grew up in the South where food and good times were king.’

It could be the stress of the upheaval of the American Idol judging panel which has let Jackson to put on weight.

Following Ellen DeGeneres’ departure from the show, Kara DioGuardi is also said to be leaving.

And while Jackson is planning to rejoin Simon Cowell on the judging panel for series 10 on the show, he is said to be finding the drama surrounding American Idol difficult to deal with.

A source told America’s People magazine: ‘He is still under contract.

‘He’s a little fed up and torn with everything going on, but Randy is the kind of person who goes with the flow. He loves the show.

‘[But] he wouldn’t stay somewhere he wasn’t happy.

‘He has a million other projects going on.

‘Idol is a notch on his very accomplished belt.’

Two points:

1) Band or bypass? Make your mind up, they are two completely different things.

2) With the band (which are not normally removed) you can cheat. I won’t tell you how though heh.

Who cares, the man is an absolutely fantastic Musician!

One of the more credible, viable, talent judges, unlike Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue, who wouldnt know a time signature or key signature if it hit them on the nose.
