It is not difficult keeping goats healthy if a bit of common sense is used.

Raising goats is never boring. They are easy to keep if common sense is applied to common goat personalities.

Sheep and goats are entirely different animal species, with entirely different characteristics, nutritional requirements and environmental needs.

Do not use sheep feed for feeding goats or the other way around. Always read the nutrition labels on the feed sacks.

Keep in mind bucks and wethers cannot tolerate raw grain. If you are just beginning goat farming, consult with a veterinarian about your bucks needs to keep them healthy. He can recommend the proper supplements, feed and amounts for your goat.

Giving your goat dry oatmeal is a good feed supplement. Goats love to munch of leaves and branches. They are also more than grateful for any treats you want to give  them. Remember, sweets can rot their teeth and be dangerous health wise.

Do not give your goat more than they will eat of fresh green hay. Your goat will need less supplements with green grass and hay. This feed is much higher in nutrients than brown feed.  

Goats require a lot of fresh clean water every day. They will drink a lot of water, so it is import you are keeping goats water pail full and clean . Keeping their water clear of ice during cold weather is a plus.

One good practice goat farming is keeping mineral blocks out for the goats. Don't forget the salt. Keep a salt block available for their use.?  
 
Feed your does a well balanced grain supplement, especially when they are pregnant. It is for their good and the kids good to keep them fed with healthy feed.
 
It is easy to feed your does with grain. So always watch your animal?s condition to determine how much or how little they may need. Same way with supplementing lactating does with more protein, since this is important in their milk for young kids.
 
To prevent hoof rot, keep their feet trimmed every few weeks.
 
Every year get your goats vaccinated with whatever the vet thinks they should have to keep them healthy.  
 
Watch your goat during feed time. If they are not running for dinner, they may be ill.
 
A goats coat is a good indicator of their health. Patchy, dull and/or course hair can be sign of worms or other diet problems.
 
If their legs are bending in or back, it could be a sign of bad nutrition.
