How can you get the credit cards to stop coming to your un employed better half?

credit cards: How can you get the credit cards to stop coming to your un employed better half? She has went bankrupt twice and there is nothing i can do about it. The credit report is in both of our names because the state requires it. You cannot stop her from getting credit cards and ruining your credit unless you get a divorce. I do not have a credit card and on my credit report there are 16 credit cards with 4 in default? I am sick

Responses:
  • Point at the door. Tell her to take her cards with her
  • They will never stop sending her cards I have tried, believe me if they have a reason to send it to her. The best thing for you two is to communicate calmly. Tell her she can not be doing this and, if necessary, seek therapy for her spending problem. Ask for her cooperation to cut the cards and freeze accounts. If you cut one of her cards, it still takes a week or so to get another, so it should slow it down a little. Try not to threaten with a divorce if you still want to be married to her. Besides, even if you stop the credit cards from coming, that doesn't mean she's not capable of getting money somehow. She has a problem that needs to be taken care of before it gets worse
  • It appears they are extending her credit based on your report. Can you put a freeze on your credit report? Maybe some kind of notice that no credit is to be extended without certain conditions being met
  • my ex had a similiar problem, after 8 years I let her go, that was not the only issue. You may be enabling her to be irresponsible by staying with her, and there are plenty of good people out there looking for another good person
  • If she is that blatantly disrespectful, Divorce her and make her pay res ution. Grow a spine, it's time to say no
