The ink is barely dry on the new Debit Card Overdraft Rules promulgated by the U.S. Federal Reserve, and the Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) has issued a press release arguing that the rules are inadequate.

The United States Federal Reserve Board today announced a set of rules designed to prevent financial institutions from charging consumers fees for paying overdrafts on automated teller machine (ATM) and one-time debit card transactions, unless a consumer consents, or opts in, to the overdraft service for those types of transactions.

On October 27, 2009, Eufora, LLC was issued a U.S. Patent covering aspects of their prepaid debit card “credit builder” features. The patent is U.S. Patent No. 7,607,570 and is titled: “Methods of Establishing Credit”.
